The Early Assurance, direct freshman entry program is a 3 + 2 model, available to a limited number of graduating high school seniors who will enroll in Walsh University’s Exercise Science Pre-Athletic Training major.
This program would let highly qualified students complete three undergraduate years here at Walsh University and then be admitted directly into the Masters of Athletic Training program at Youngstown State University. The Masters of Athletic Training at Youngstown State University is a two year program.
Early Assurance Athletic Training Program Requirements
- Prior to Attending Walsh University:
- Traditional Applicants:
- High School cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher
- Minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1180 (critical thinking and math, not including writing)
- Complete a standardized interview with faculty members of the Exercise Science program
- Test Optional Applicants (Fall 2021 applicants only):
- High School recalculated cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher (GPA will be recalculated by only looking at college prep coursework)
- Complete a standardized interview with faculty members of the Exercise Science program
Once at Walsh University:
- Must be enrolled in the Early Assurance Exercise Science Pre-Athletic Training major
- Complete pre-requisites for the program with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Must have a “C” of better in all required coursework
- Must complete a minimum of 3 academic years of undergraduate education at Walsh University
- Must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher during their undergraduate curriculum at Walsh University
- For purposes of admission to YSU, students will need to submit to the Athletic Training program all official transcripts, standard application packet process and documentation of observation hours within the established time parameters for admission. The MAT program at YSU reserves the right to require additional documents from any students for admission upon their discretion.
