Walsh University’s Accelerated Teaching Licensure program helps meet the growing demand for teachers in the state of Ohio and offers licensure preparation in education for adults who have previously earned a baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university. Offered in either an accelerated or fully online format depending on the specialty, most students can complete their licensure in about two years. Walsh offers convenient 8-week course formats which are convenient for working adults. Walsh’s teacher preparation program has been lauded by the Ohio Department of Education for its innovative practices in areas like the science of reading and dyslexia therapy. Additionally students may choose to work simultaneously toward their MAED degree during the same timeframe! Walsh University has been granted authority from the Ohio Board of Regents to recommend individuals for licensure in:
- P-5 Elementary Education (100% online)
- P-5 Elementary/P-5 Intervention (100% online)
- Intervention Specialist Education
- Middle Childhood Education
- Adolescent and Young Adult Education
Admission Requirements: Specific program requirements vary by subject area, but general application requirements include official college transcripts, two letters of recommendation, GRE scores if below a 3.0 GPA, and an interview with the program chair. Admitted LEAD students will work with an advisor to plan out their specific curriculum plan.
