"The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following programs in Counseling and Human Development within the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Walsh University: Mental Health Counseling (M.A. degree) and School Counseling (M.A. degree)."

Re-accreditation date is March 31, 2023. 

Program Outcomes Report

Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program

In this reporting period (through Spring 2020) 18 students graduated. The overall Completion rate within the expected time frame is 100% for this group of recent graduates. This completion rate includes both CMHC students and Dual students (these complete both the CMHC and SC programs). The overall completion rate within the expected time frame for the CMHC program alone is 100% and for the Dual alone (both CMHC and SC programs) is 100%. In the current reporting period, the number of years to complete the CMHC program has varied from 2.33 years to 3.67 years with an average of 3 years, and the number of years to complete the Dual (both CMHC and SC programs) varied from 2.33 to 2.67 years with an average of 2.5 years. The Counseling and Human Development program does not operate on a strict cohort model and accommodates both full-time and part-time students. Most students work full-time while they are in the program and thus their student status (full-time vs part-time) may vary from semester to semester. Those who start as full-time students and wish to maintain employment, becomes part-time students during Practicum and Internship. CMHC (including Dual) students have a 100% pass rate on the NCE for initial licensure. The job placement rate for CMHC (and Dual) students actively looking for employment over the last 180 days is 100%. This includes those who graduated in May, 2020.

School Counseling (SC) Program

In this reporting period (through Spring 2020) 3 students graduated. The completion rate within the expected time frame is 100% for this group of recent graduates. In the current reporting period, the number of years to complete the SC program has varied from 2 to 3.33 years, with an average of 2.66 years. The Counseling and Human Development program does not operate on a strict cohort model and accommodates both full-time and part-time students. Most students work full-time while they are in the program and thus their student status (fulltime vs part-time) may vary from semester to semester. Those who start as full-time students and wish to maintain employment, become part-time during Practicum and Internship. The pass rate for the ODE (Ohio Department of Education) in 2019-2020 is 66.6%. This rate includes Dual students (CMHC and SC) who took the SC licensure exam. The job placement rate for SC students actively looking for employment over the last 180 days is 100%. This includes those who graduated in May, 2020.
